HOODLUM TURNED HOOD HERO ON A MISSION TO MAKE AMENDS

ATLANTA, GA, November, 2009—Much like the lauded comic book superheroes; when the rough streets of modern-day Gotham call, Keith Holmes comes to the rescue without fail or desired accolades. Although as a professional athlete he has traveled around the world from France and London to Israel and South Africa, Holmes finds solace and wisdom in tending to his own backyard.

Honest about his own troubled past and involvement in the corruption of the very area he now is committed to serving, Holmes feels compelled to make a positive impact and establish personal retribution through sincere deeds within his Washington DC community.

Unlike many of his contemporaries, Holmes was able to escape the throes of the streets and became a 2-time WBC Middleweight Champion, a title held by heavyweights; Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali and Evander Holyfield. But behind the belts, Holmes is more than an athlete; he is considered among his peers, neighbors and fellow community members a street profit and people’s champion.

As a “go-to” guy and neighborhood leader, Holmes now wields more brainpower than brawn to address the needs of the hood. The motivational speaker and occasional referee, offers a positive perspective of what the streets gave to him.

Holmes shares his ghetto gospel from pool halls and parks to preschools and penitentiaries. The highly respected, hands-on social activist has worked with local DC non profit and community organizations including; “Cease Fire: Don’t Smoke The Brothers”, “Peaceaholics”, and “The Alliance of Concerned Men”.

“I’m trying to help these guys live, just because they’re in prison for example, doesn’t mean that their lives are over,” expressed the champ.

“I was a part of the disruption in my city and neighborhood, so I have to try to bring it back alive,” he further reveals.

Holmes has no intentions of slowing down and looks forward to continuing to inspire, motivate, and instill hope within the hearts of many.
